Mesothilioma Stages

The facts of mesothilioma survival are daunting. As a
result, the standard treatment for patients does not usually
lead to a cure of the disease. However remember that only 5% of
people who have had contact with asbestos actually contrive
mesothilioma.
There are four stages of treament. Stage 1 is
localised to malignant peritoneal mesothilioma.
For stages 2 to 4, despite the available medical options
there is generally no cure for the disease once it reveals
itself.
Mesothilioma
treatments include:
- Drainage of effusions
- Chest tube pleurodesis
- Thorascopic pleurodesis
- Palliative surgical resections
- Palliative radiation therapy
- Single agent chemotherapy
- Multimodality clinical trials
Stage I Mesothilioma affects the lining
surrounding the body cavities and the organs within.
Stage II Mesothilioma has spread to the
organs surrounded by these membranes.
Stage III Mesothilioma has also spread to
the lymph nodes nearest to the growth.
Stage IV Mesothilioma has spread to distant
body parts, frequently distant parts of the lung or the
brain.
If workers have been exposed to asbestos then an asbestos litigation or
lawsuit might provide some financial relief to the victims.
However the mesothilioma
prognosis of most cases is not good.
